Directions on Microsoft Experts
Matt Rosoff

Expertise: Consumer, Online, Business and Legal Affairs. Windows Live, MSN, search, advertising, entertainment and devices, financial results, and legal affairs.

Matt Rosoff analyzes and writes about Microsoft’s technologies and strategies for online services, including Windows Live, Live Search, and Microsoft Advertising. He also helps customers track and understand consumer products such as Xbox, Zune, and Mediaroom (IPTV), as well as Microsoft’s enterprise search strategy. In addition, he covers corporate news, such as quarterly and annual financial results, lawsuits, and intellectual property strategy.

Prior to joining Directions, Matt was a founding editor at CNET in San Francisco, where he helped grow the company from a 40-employee startup to one of the industry’s leading online providers of technology information and news. Along the way, he got an inside look at the components necessary to create that rarest of organizations: a successful Web business.

In his five years as a features writer, editor, and occasional TV segment producer, Matt reviewed and analyzed consumer software from Microsoft and its competitors, followed the rise (and fall) of technology trends, and honed his ability to see through the hype and explain the real technical facts behind the spin. Matt also helped initiate CNET’s home electronics and wireless device coverage.

Matt received his B.A. from Williams College.
