Back to associated article: Windows OS Roadmap Stretched
  Past Windows Client Versions (Chart)

Windows 2000 and Windows XP are the only fully supported Windows client OSs as of Jan. 2004.

All support for Windows NT 4.0 Workstation ends June 30, 2004, and only security-related hotfixes are available in the meantime.

The Extended Support phase for Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows Me ends June 30, 2006. This is a major extension of time for these products: Windows 98 was scheduled to exit the Extended Support phase on Jan. 16, 2004, and the other two versions were due to leave the Extended Support phase Dec. 31, 2004.

Microsoft products are normally supported only with the most recent service pack, but customers receive one year to migrate to that service pack. This means, for example, that Windows 2000 Professional with Service Pack 3 will be supported until June 26, 2004.
