June 2010 updates to the Windows Azure SDK and tools for Visual Studio (VS) add support for the .NET Framework 4 and other features to the Windows Azure service. Windows Azure provides a hosted Windows Server-based OS in Microsoft data centers where customers can deploy applications and associated data. The new SDK also adds support for IntelliTrace, a VS 2010 feature that collects an application's state data as it runs so that a developer can trace a prior execution of the application to debug problems. The VS tools now fully support the final release of VS 2010 (and continue support for VS 2008 SP1) and add new viewers for Windows Azure data and service state. Also, Windows Azure applications can now be deployed to the Azure service from within VS (the Web-based Azure developer portal was previously the only deployment tool). Windows Azure is discussed in "Windows Azure Offers Application Hosting, Storage" on page 17 of the Mar. 2010 Update. Windows Azure Tools for VS 1.2 (which include the also separately available Windows Azure SDK 1.2) can be downloaded at www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2274a0a8-5d37-4eac-b50a-e197dc340f6f. |
