Microsoft Planner, an online service originally called Office 365 Planner when first announced in 2015, is a lightweight task management tool that can help organize and track small projects such as departmental initiatives. The service allows team members to create plans, assign and track tasks, receive automatic status updates, and share documents. The service, which uses a browser-based user interface, relies on Office 365 Groups for user management and access to collaboration features such as document storage, e-mail, messaging, and notebooks.
