Primary user

A primary user is defined as a user who uses a licensed device more than 50% of the time in any 90-day period. A device can have at most one primary user and certain shared devices, such as a shop floor kiosk used intermittently by many users, would not have a primary user. In the case of Office client applications, Windows client OSs, and Microsoft 365 Enterprise suites, a primary user designation may be a license purchase prerequisite or a determinant as to whether a particular use right applies.
