CodePlex Source Code Site Shutting Down

The CodePlex source code sharing Web site will be shut down on Dec. 15, 2017, and new projects can no longer be created. Microsoft introduced CodePlex in 2006 as a public repository for open source software created by Microsoft and community members focused on Microsoft platforms. The company's open source software efforts have proliferated in recent years with published projects such as .NET Core, Visual Studio Code, and TypeScript; however, the popularity of CodePlex has waned as GitHub has become the dominant public source code repository, even for Microsoft-published code.
