SQL Server 2016 Leaves Mainstream Support in July 2021

SQL Server 2016 reaches the end of Mainstream support in July 2021, after which it will no longer receive bug fixes or feature updates through service packs. During Mainstream support, organizations can receive free security and nonsecurity updates, request product design changes and features, and purchase paid support contracts. During Extended support, which follows Mainstream, products receive free security updates, and customers can purchase paid support contracts that include nonsecurity updates.
