Print Vulnerability Fix Changes Permissions Behavior

A fix to address printer vulnerabilities commonly known as “PrintNightmare” changed the default behavior of the Windows Point and Print feature. This change was made to improve security and mitigate ransomware attacks, but the change may require administrators to assist users to elevate their privileges to add or update printers. After the Aug. 10, 2021, quality update is installed, users running with least privilege (user), rather than administrator, will not be able to install or change printer drivers.
